These quality whole sugar almonds originate in Italy and are made by Buratti who have been producing high quality confectionery for almost four decades. These almonds contain a whole peeled almond which is then encased in a fine coating of sugar.
There are many different grades of sugared almonds, the cheaper ones using thicker coats of sugar to compensate for the more bitter almonds used as well as to make up weight.
Originating in Italy, where they are called Bomboniere, the Italians use delicate Organza bags to hold 5 quality sugared almonds, which represent Health, Wealth, Happiness, Long Life and Fertility.
Whole Almonds are available in White and Ivory.
