Narsil

You don't have to be a Lord of the Rings aficianado to like this sword but if you are you'll know that Narsil is probably the most famous sword in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. At the close of the second age of Middle Earth Narsil's blade was shattered, as Elendil fell during the final alliance between Elves and Men against the mighty Sauron. Isuldur, Elendil's son, used the broken hilt of Narsil to sever the One Ring from Sauron's finger thereby breaking the bonds of his power and banishing his evil shadow into darkness.

Engraved on the pommel are runes in the Elven language of Sindarin which say: Narsil is my name, a mighty sword: Telchar made me in Nogrod.
