Classic Cakes are based upon traditional Wedding designs which date back
to the18th century. These were grand affairs of many heavily
fruited layers, decorated with royal icing, columns, flowers and
doves.
The examples here show a softer, less formal style;
though any combination of colour, theme, pillars or floral decoration
can be used.
Scottish themes
include Wedding cakes decorated with edible tartan, sugarcraft thistles and lucky white heather. Cake boards can be
trimmed with tartan ribbon from a range of fourteen Scottish clans and
you can always add a cake cutting knife from our range of
Scottish
wedding swords.
It is possible to have mixed tiers with sponge cakes
on the lower levels and a smaller, rich fruit cake for the top tier,
made from our traditional Scottish recipe.
Dummy cakes can also be substituted; covered in matching icing these
allow you to have a more impressive creation without having more cake
than you can eat.
