Art Nouveau Wedding Cake Design

Art Nouveau

Art nouveau was an international style of decoration and architecture which developed in the 1880s and 1890s. The name derives from the Maison de l'Art Nouveau, an interior design gallery opened in Paris in 1896.

Tall plaster pillars add height and elegance to the cakes with two round tiers on top of a petal shaded cake.

The cakes were dusted with an edible gold shimmer to add depth of colour and trimmed with fine gold ribbons.

Pillared cake

Sugar butterflies and water lily leaves

An arrangement of sugarcraft butterflies with pink calla lilies and water lily leaves echo the organic flowing lines. which decorate the cake sides.

This was a stunning cake, but sadly only photographed in our old studio, which couldn't do it justice.
